Ron Kischuk is the leader of The Masters Of Music Big Band, The Tartarsauce Traditional Jazz Band, and is the owner of Brassworks Entertainment in Detroit and The Masters Of Music Conservatory in Royal Oak. He is in his tenth season as the artistic director of the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, and is the Managing & Artistic Director of the Toledo Jazz Festival.
Ron is on the adjunct faculty of Wayne State University teaching both classical and jazz trombone and classical and jazz trumpet. Ron is a Yamaha clinician and performing artist, and is the Detroit area’s most prominent trombonist. He has been a featured soloist with The Detroit Symphony Orchestra on several occasions and has performed with the orchestra many times as principal or assistant principal trombonist. Ron is presently the principal trombonist of the Rochester Symphony Orchestra. He is the first call trombonist for the Fox Theater in Detroit and Andiamo's Celebrity Showroom in Warren. His Masters Of Music Big Band has backed up Johnny Mathis, Hal Linden, The Temptations, Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Four Freshman, Diane Schuur, Rosemary Clooney, Wayne Newton and Regis Philbin to name a few.
Ron has 17 CD releases as leader. Recent releases include with N.E.A. Jazz Master Curtis Fuller, Peter Erskine and the Music of Stan Kenton, "Basin Street Blues" with the Tartarsauce Traditional Jazz Band, and "Splanky" with the Masters of Music Big Band (minus 9). He has also recorded with Aretha Franklin, Vickie Winans, Tim Bowman, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Grand Funk Railroad, The Les Brown Band, The Emerald Sinfonietta, Alfio, Russ Miller, Paul Finazzo, Bobby Murray, Stewart Francke, Karen Newman, Alto Reed, Jimmy Scott, Randy Scott, The Birmingham Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra, and is lead trombone on the Grammy winning soundtrack Standing In The Shadows Of Motown. In the next few months he will release a second "Tribute to J & K' CD, along with a Masters of Music "The Art of the Sextet" recording. Also coming are 3 new Masters of Music quartet CDs with guest artists. Ron has performed for several movie soundtracks including "Air Force One: The President's Plane" and "Bring Back Summertime".
